The Dunedin Bagels and Deli 1st Annual Pastrami Eating Contest was held in Pioneer Park during the Dunedin Green Market on Saturday afternoon. Participants had 30 minutes to eat a whopping 3 1/2 pound pastrami sandwich with a full crowd cheering them on for support. No participant was able to finish the sandwich so the title went to the one who ate the most. Joe Brady of Palm Harbor was declared the winner, who ironically is a vegetarian. However, Brady stated that he ate the meat because it was for charity. Proceeds from the event benefitted Kiwanis and UNICEF.
